This star wars galactic racer vehicles guide helps you choose a vehicle class, plan campaign unlocks and decide how to customize your ride. STAR WARS: Galactic Racer™ has four classes: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers. The campaign starts you in a landspeeder; bikes and skim speeders open through Tuning Points. Podracers have separate races and their own access rules.
Choose a class for your driving style
Landspeeders combine strong acceleration, top speed and resilience with drifting through corners. They are the supported starting recommendation if you want forgiving contact while learning the tracks. Speeder bikes offer agility but less durability, while skim speeders reward momentum and flowing lines.
| Class | What to learn | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Carry speed through corners by drifting | Less agile than a speeder bike |
| Speeder bike | Store braking energy and release it with Kinetic Burst | Fragile when taking hits |
| Skim speeder | Maintain momentum and use Knife Edge for sharp corners | Less agile than bikes and less resilient than landspeeders |
| Podracer | Handle exceptionally high speed in separate events | Little room for driving errors |
The first three classes race together. Podracers race separately because of their speed and larger size. Use the Star Wars Galactic Racer vehicle types comparison to weigh handling and resilience before choosing your class.
Plan campaign unlocks and model purchases
Unlock the speeder bike for 10 Tuning Points or the skim speeder for 20 Tuning Points on Vehicle Select when a new Campaign Tour begins. Regular Races award one Tuning Point regardless of finishing position; Eliminators award four for a top-three finish. Those points also fund permanent upgrades, so a new class and better performance compete for the same budget. The Star Wars Galactic Racer vehicles reference covers class unlocks and kit options.
For landspeeders, ARZ 41 is owned from the Campaign start. The roster contains 12 named models: ten other kits cost 100 Kit Points each, and Kor Sarun: Darc X comes through Deluxe access. Check the exact model and acquisition condition in the Star Wars Galactic Racer landspeeder models reference before choosing a body style. Kits within a class share handling; a different look does not make a faster vehicle.
Open podracing in the right mode
Arcade offers podracing from the start. In the campaign, Sebulba's memory races begin in Act 2, and Shade gets his own podracer through training in Act 3. Multiplayer podracing opens at Rank 5, with all six playable pilots available together rather than unlocked individually.
Progression requirements differ: later Arcade tracks need at least bronze in the previous race, while Sebulba's next memory race requires gold. Follow the star wars galactic racer podracer guide for the route that matches your mode.
Separate appearance changes from performance upgrades
At the start of a new Campaign Tour, highlight your vehicle on Vehicle Select and press Square on PS5 or X on Xbox. Choose Model changes the overall shape, Edit Vehicle changes body components, and Edit Livery changes patterns, colors and patina. These appearance changes do not improve speed or handling.
Permanent vehicle-type upgrades use Tuning Points. Hibi's workshop in each planet's Paddock lets you fit parts with stat boosts and abilities. Use STAR WARS: Galactic Racer customization to distinguish the appearance menus from those performance options, and check each item's displayed price before spending.
