Your journey through the Galactic League gives you four repulsorcraft classes to choose from. The Star Wars Galactic Racer vehicle types are landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers: start with a landspeeder for stability, try a bike for agility or a skim speeder for momentum, and expect podracers to demand much cleaner driving. Landspeeders, bikes and skim speeders race together; podracers race separately because of their intensely high speed and significantly larger size.
SammyBoiii explains how cornering differs for each class:
How do the four vehicle types differ?
The real difference is how each class carries speed through corners and how much punishment it can take.
| Vehicle class | Main strength | Cornering approach | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Great acceleration and top speed, with strong resilience | Drift through corners | Less agile than a speeder bike |
| Speeder bike | Fast and agile | Kinetic Burst stores braking energy on corner entry, then releases an acceleration burst | Fragile when contact happens |
| Skim speeder | Builds momentum to become the fastest speeder on the track | Flowing lines and Knife Edge for sharp corners | Less agile than bikes and less resilient than landspeeders |
| Podracer | Exceptionally high speed | Driving with very little room for error | Trades safety and resilience for speed; races separately |
“Fastest speeder” describes a skim speeder's momentum potential within the speeder field. It does not put skim speeders above podracers in a shared race.
Which vehicle type should you choose?
Landspeeder: recommended for your first class
Pick a landspeeder if you want a stable vehicle that can shrug off hits while you learn to carry speed through corners. Game director Bill Lane describes it as the typical entry point for a pilot: keep your foot on the gas and drift to hold speed through bends. Its acceleration and top speed give you a reason to stick with it beyond simply surviving contact.
Will Sawyer also prefers the default landspeeder as the easiest, most intuitive repulsorcraft to drive. For individual options within this class, use the Star Wars Galactic Racer landspeeder models page.
Speeder bike: choose agility and braking bursts
Choose a speeder bike if you prefer a fast, agile vehicle and are willing to accept fragility. Its distinctive mechanic is Kinetic Burst. Braking into a corner stores energy that you can then release as a burst of acceleration, so corner entry is part of the acceleration cycle rather than just a loss of speed.
The trade-off is contact: a bike doesn't have a landspeeder's resilience, so if you take a lot of hits it will hurt you more.

Skim speeder: choose momentum and flowing lines
A skim speeder sits between the other two in agility and resilience, but it needs momentum. It can become the fastest speeder on the track, and Knife Edge gives it a way to tackle sharp corners.
Sawyer found this the hardest class to pilot because maintaining speed required wider racing lines. Give it room for a flowing line instead of driving it like a bike. It has a high ceiling but isn't an easy first drive.

Podracer: choose a separate, demanding speed challenge
Podracers offer exceptionally high speed and much less forgiveness. They trade safety and resilience for that speed, and their larger size is another reason they race separately from the other three classes.
Podracers have their own races, so you can't take one into a speeder race.
The Star Wars Galactic Racer podracer page is the next place to look at vehicles in that category.
Is there one best class for every race?
No one has confirmed a vehicle class that is best for every track, player and mode. Start with a landspeeder, then try the bike and skim speeder to see which cornering style suits you.
